Mrs. Sadako Ogata, Special Representative of the Prime Minister of Japan, to Attend International Conference on Afghanistan

  1. Mrs. Sadako Ogata, Special Representative of Prime Minister Koizumi (President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency), will visit Berlin as the chief delegate of Japan to the International Conference on Afghanistan that will be held there on March 31 (Wed) and April 1 (Thu).

  2. Together with representatives of Germany, Afghanistan and the United Nations, Mrs. Ogata will co-chair the Conference, which will be held at a time when peace and reconstruction process is at the critical stage in Afghanistan. As a representative of Japan, Mrs. Ogata will emphasize the significance of Japan's assistance made thus far for Afghanistan and will then stress the importance of the continued support of the international community for Afghanistan.

  3. During her stay in Berlin, Mrs. Ogata will exchange views on the situation in Afghanistan and other issues with participants in the Conference and others concerned.
