Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Muneo Suzuki to Visit East Africa

- Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Muneo Suzuki will visit Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from August 16 (Mon) to 21 (Sat).
- Mr. Suzuki, who is carrying with him personal letters of Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi addressed to the Heads of State of the respective countries, will hold talks with the leaders of each country on such matters as bilateral relations and the follow-up of the TICAD II (Second Tokyo International Conference on African Development) as well as visit sites of Japanese economic cooperation.
- During his exchange of views with the leaders of each country, the Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary will also request their support for Mr. Koichiro Matsuura (present Japanese Ambassador to France), who is running for the post of Director-General of the UNESCO.
