Japanese
- Japan welcomes that the Government of the Republic of Fiji, consistent with its Strategic Framework for Change, has decided to end the Public Emergency Regulations from January 7 and to commence the nationwide consultation process for the new constitution in February. The international community should value these measures as a positive step forward.
- Japan sincerely hopes that Fiji will continue to take concrete actions towards free and fair elections no later than 2014 and to this end, it intends to maintain close dialogue with the Fijian authorities. Japan is also ready to provide necessary support in that regard.
