Statement by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, on Attack against UN office in Afghanistan

- The Government of Japan deeply regrets that the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) was attacked on Friday, April 1 in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan, causing deaths and injuries including among the United Nations personnel. It expresses deepest condolences for the deceased and their bereaved families.
- The Government of Japan supports the activities of the United Nations to assist Afghanistan’s nation-building, and will continue to actively support Afghanistan’s efforts toward its stability and reconstruction, together with the international community. It also believes that it is important to ensure the security of those who engage in Afghanistan’s nation-building including United Nations personnel
