Dispatch of Election Observation Mission for the Second-Round Vote of Haiti’s Presidential Election

- The Government of Japan decided to dispatch an election observation mission comprising four members headed by Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Haiti Soichi Sato, for the second-round vote of the presidential election in the Republic of Haiti on Sunday, March 20, in order to ensure free and fair implementation of the election.
- The fair and smooth implementation of the forthcoming presidential election is a focus of the international community as the country’s reconstruction after the earthquake of January 2010 relies on the election result. The observation mission will observe voting and counting procedures near the capital.
