Acceptance of Relief Supplies from Canada

- In response to the Tohoku - Pacific Ocean Earthquake, the Government of Japan will be receiving relief supplies from the Government of Canada which are scheduled to arrive at Narita Airport in the afternoon of Thursday, March 17, 2011.
- The relief supplies from Canada consist of about 25,000 blankets, which will be distributed to the disaster-stricken areas.
- From the Government of Canada, letters of condolences and sympathy were sent from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada. The Government of Canada has extended offers of assistance to Japan from an early stage, and the Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, said on Monday, March 14 that Canada is prepared to extend professional and technical assistance to the Government of Japan according to Japan's needs. The Government of Japan deeply appreciates the cooperation of the Government of Canada.
