Courtesy Call on Mr. Ryuji Yamane, Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, by Political Directors of Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Ambassadors of the V4 countries

From 12:00 to 12:30 on 19 December, Mr. Ryuji Yamane, Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from Political Directors of Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Ambassadors of the V4 countries (Visegrád Four Countries; a framework of regional cooperation comprised of Czech Republic as the current chair, Hungary, Slovak Republic and Poland). The following is an outline of the meeting.
- At the start of the meeting, Senior Vice-Minister Yamane expressed to the V4 countries his sorrow over the death of the former Czech President Havel, who led democratization in Czecho-Slovakia. The V4 side thanked for his condolences and expressed sympathy to the Great East Japan Earthquake. The V4 also appreciated Japan’s transparent response toward the international community in the face of the accident at Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Station.
- Furthermore, both sides confirmed that Japan and the V4 were partners sharing common values and it was meaningful to utilize both sides’ knowledge especially on the security area. They also affirmed that they would further promote their cooperation in the framework V4 + Japan in various areas.
