- On Thursday, November 24 (Wednesday, November 23 local time), H.E. Ali Abdullah Saleh, President of the Republic of Yemen, signed the GCC initiative for a peaceful transition of power in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Japan sincerely welcomes this development and highly appreciates the mediation efforts of the GCC, the United Nations, the United States, the European Union, among others.
- Japan hopes that the transition of power will be smoothly carried out in Yemen in line with the GCC initiative, and stability will be achieved in the country.
- Japan intends to cooperate as much as possible in order to achieve stability of Yemen.
