Japanese

  1. The second round of negotiations on an agreement between Japan and India on social security will be held from Monday, October 17 to Friday, October 21 in New Delhi.

  2. The negotiations will be attended on the Japanese side by Mr. Hiroshi Tajima, Director, Southwest Asia Division, Southeast and Southwest Asia Affairs Department, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Ms. Tomomi Hihara Director, International Pension Division, Pension Bureau, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) as well as officials from the two ministries. On the Indian side, it will be attended by Mr. Atul Kumar Tiwari, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs as well as concerned officials of the Government of India.

  3. Employees sent from Japan to India as well as those sent from India to Japan are currently obliged to affiliate to the social security systems of both countries thus causing duplicable payments of social security contribution which impose a huge economic burden on both individuals and corporations. It is expected that the conclusion of an agreement between Japan and India on social security will solve these problems through reducing the burden imposed on the employees and corporations, and further promote human and economic exchanges between the two countries.
