  1. Japan welcomes the decision of President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai that the new Lower House of Afghanistan will convene on January 26th.

  2. Japan hopes that deliberations in the Lower House will proceed smoothly and contribute to progress in the reconstruction and development of Afghanistan.
