In regard to the flood disaster in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Naoto Kan, Prime Minister of Japan, sent a letter to Mr. Yousuf Raza Gilani, Prime Minister of the Pakistan, through the Japanese Embassy in Pakistan on August 20. The letter, which conveyed his condolences to the victims and their bereaved families and sympathy to those affected, referred to Japan’s decision to dispatch a Self-Defense Force helicopter to Pakistan as well as the emergency humanitarian assistance extended thus far.
