  1. The Government of Japan is deeply concerned about the exchange of fire across the Israeli-Lebanese border. Japan deplores the casualties and injuries that resulted from the clash.

  2. With the recognition that an escalation in violence has been prevented until now, Japan urges both Israel and Lebanon to continue to exercise utmost restraint and fully implement UNSC Resolution 1701.

  3. Japan expects that both Israel and Lebanon will extend full cooperation to UNIFIL and that the facts will be clarified.
