Establishment of an “Advisory Panel of Experts on Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation”

- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has established an “Advisory Panel of Experts on Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation” comprising eminent people recruited from outside the Government.
- Osaka Jogakuin College Professor Mitsuru Kurosawa will act as Chair of the Advisory Panel. Other members of the Advisory Panel are listed at the bottom of this press release. In addition to those listed, Minister for Foreign Affairs Katsuya Okada and Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Hisashi Tokunaga shall also attend meetings as needed.
- In order to achieve the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons, the Government of Japan believes that it should continue to exercise leadership in the international community. The Advisory Panel shall express opinions on Japan’s policy on nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation based on consultations with Minister for Foreign Affairs Katsuya Okada.
