The Opening Ceremony of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST)

- The opening ceremony of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) was held at Smart Village in Cairo, Egypt on June 3. Dr. Ahmed Nazif, Prime Minister, Dr. Hany Hellal, Minister of Higher Education and State for Scientific Research, and Mrs. Faiza AboulNagaa, Minister of International Cooperation on the Egyptian side, and Mr. Akihiko Furuya, Ambassador in charge of Science and Technology Cooperation, Mr. Kaoru Ishikawa, Ambassador of Japan to Egypt, Dr. Sadako Ogata, President of Japan International Cooperation Agency, and representatives of Japanese universities and company, on the Japanese side, attended.
- The purpose of E-JUST is to establish a research-oriented Egyptian national university of science and technology with a Japanese style approach. E-JUST is expected to be a central educational hub in the Middle East and the Arab region. Japan’s cooperation for this project consists of assistance for formulating a grand design and curriculum and managing the whole system of E-JUST. In this context, Japan dispatches specialists and core professors to E-JUST. E-JUST has already accepted 26 students and conducted lectures since this February.
