Earthquake Disaster in Qinghai Province, the People’s Republic of China

In response to the earthquake disaster that struck Qinghai Province, the People’s Republic of China, in the early morning of April 14, Mr. Katsuya Okada, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, sent messages of sympathy to Mr. Dai Bingguo, State Councilor of China, and Mr. Yang Jiechi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, through the Japanese embassy in China on the evening of the same day.

Also, at the instruction of Minister Okada, a liaison office for the earthquake in Qinghai Province, China was established at 3:30 pm on April 14 with the Director General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau as office head.
