  1. The 1st Meetings of the Joint Committee and the Subcommittee on Improving the Investment Environment established under the Japan-Peru Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) were held in Lima, the capital city of the Republic of Peru, on Tuesday, April 13 (local time: Monday, April 12).

  2. The Meeting of the Joint Committee was chaired on the Japanese side by Mr. Satoru Satoh, Director-General, Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Bureau, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan; and on the Peruvian side by Mr. Elard Escala, Executive Director of Economic Promotion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, and Mr. Jorge León, Executive Director, Private Investment Promotion Agency of Peru. Officials from related government agencies of both countries also attended.

  3. The 1st Meeting of the Subcommittee on Improving the Investment Environment was attended by officials from related government agencies of both countries, as well as relevant parties from the business world. At the meeting, various issues and proposals related to improving the investment environment in Japan and Peru were addressed, and a frank and lively exchange of opinions was held by the participants of both countries.
