Message of Condolence from Japan on the Passing Away of Dr. Lech Kaczyński, President of the Republic of Poland, and his Spouse

- On March 10 (Sat) just before 16:00 JST, a Polish government aircraft carrying Dr. Lech Kaczyński, President of the Republic of Poland, and his spouse crashed near the Smolensk Airport in west Russia (96 people were onboard the plane including Mr. Jerzy Szmajdziński, Vice-Marshal of Polish Sejm, and Mr. Władysław Stasiak, Head of the President’s Office). Mr. Yukio Hatoyama, Prime Minister of Japan, sent a message relating his heartfelt condolence at the demise of President Kaczyński, his spouse, and a large number of the other passengers passed away to Mr. Bronisław Komorowski, Marszal of the Sejm of Poland, and Donald Tusk, Prime Minister of Poland.
- Mr. Katsuya Okada, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, sent a similar message to Mr. Radoslaw Sikorski, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland.
