Earthquake Disaster in the Republic of Chile (Dispatch of Japan International Disaster Relief Medical Team)

  1. The Government of Japan has decided to extend its emergency assistance to the Republic of Chile in response to the request of the Government of Chile, taking into consideration serious damage caused by the huge earthquake that occurred in the central part of the country on February 27 (Sat). This aid will include emergency grant aid of up to 3 million USD to be implemented in cooperation with the Chilean Red Cross and other organizations, Japan disaster relief medical team, and emergency relief goods equivalent to approximately 30 million JPY including power generators, tents, and water purification systems.

  2. The medical team departed from Narita Airport on the night of March 1 (Mon).
