Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Paduka Lim Jock Seng, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II, Brunei Darussalam, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs Seiji Maehara at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for approximately 20 minutes from 3:55 p.m. on December 24 (Fri).

  1. Minister Maehara expressed gratitude for Brunei’s supply of liquid natural gas (LNG) to Japan to date and hoped that ongoing negotiations for a new LNG supply contract will be concluded in a manner satisfactory to the two sides.

  2. In response, Minister Lim stated that Brunei would like to continue the existing bilateral relationship of stable LNG supply and that his country would like to cooperate with Japan in such fields as methanol production and photovoltaic solar power generation from the perspective of diversifying Brunei’s economy.

  3. The two sides also exchanged views regarding medical tourism and shared the view to discuss Japan’s possible participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement of which Brunei is an original member.
