Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the finalization of the result of the Lower House Election in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan

On December 1st, the Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan announced the final result of the Lower House Election, which was conducted on September 19th.
The Lower House Election was held with support of the international community, through the efforts of the Government of Afghanistan and with participation of the people of Afghanistan. Japan welcomes the election of new members of the Parliament in Afghanistan through the election process managed by the Afghans themselves.
Japan hopes that the reconstruction and development of Afghanistan will be promoted under the democratically elected parliament.
