Dinner between Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Seiji Maehara and Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Samir Rifai

On October 12 (Tue) for about an hour and a half from 7:00 p.m., Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Seiji Maehara held a dinner with Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Samir Al Rifai, who is visiting Japan. In addition to the various topics discussed during the summit meeting held prior to the dinner, the following topics were also discussed.

  1. Prime Minister Rifai stated that Jordan supported Japan’s concept of the Corridor for Peace and Prosperity. Minister Maehara responded in regard to the concept that land reclamation works of the Jericho Agro-Industrial Park was scheduled to begin soon.

  2. Prime Minister Rifai and Minister of Public Sector Development and Minister of State for Mega-Projects Imad Fakhoury, explained that there were three large-scale infrastructure projects, a nuclear power generation project, a desalination project, and a railroad project. In addition to contributing to the security of Jordan in the areas of water and energy, these projects were significant in that they would contribute to promoting closer ties within the region through exporting electricity to neighboring countries and connecting neighboring countries, thus promoting closer ties within the region.
