Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster in the Samoa Islands Region (Message of Sympathy from Mr. Katsuya Okada)

On September 30 (Wed) at 2:48 AM (JST), the Samoa Islands Region was hit by an
earthquake measuring 8.3 on the Richter scale, and also suffered from damage
caused by a tsunami. In response to this disaster, Mr. Katsuya Okada, Minister
for Foreign Affairs of Japan, sent a message to The Honorable Hillary Rodham
Clinton, Secretary of State of the United States, in which he expressed his
heartfelt sympathy and condolences to those who lost family members or friends
as a result of this disaster as well as to the Government and citizens of the
region.
