Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Detention and Expulsion of Mr. Manuel Zelaya, President of the Republic of Honduras, by Honduran Arming

- On June 28 (Sun), Mr. Manuel Zelaya, President of the Republic of Honduras,
was detained and transported abroad by Honduran soldiers. Japan is concerned
about the situation caused by these events and is taking a close look at
the development with high interest.
- Japan hopes that the order based upon the constitution and other laws will be swiftly recovered and that the problem will be resolved peacefully through democratic dialogue.
