Japanese
- On December 1, Mr. Barack Obama, the President of the United States
of America, announced a new strategy on Afghanistan and Pakistan.
- Japan values the role that the U.S. is playing and welcomes the strategy
it announced, as the stability of Afghanistan and Pakistan is a matter related
to the stability of the world. Japan strongly expects that the dispatch
of additional troops to Afghanistan by the U.S. and other countries, the
enhancement of civil assistance and closer cooperation with Pakistan will
improve the situation of Afghanistan and the region.
- Japan will continue to proactively play its role based on its new assistance package to Afghanistan and Pakistan announced on November 10.
