Statement by the Press Secretary/ Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Bombing in Pakistan

- The Government of Japan is deeply shocked and angered by the bombing
in Khyber Bazaar in Peshawar, the northwest Pakistani city, on 9th October
which resulted in a large number of casualties. We express our heartfelt
sympathy for the victims and send condolences to the bereaved families.
We also express sympathy for those injured and pray for their early recovery.
- The Government of Japan firmly condemns the bombing as an inexcusable
act, targeted at innocent people. We strongly blame terrorism in any forms
and manifestations and reiterate our stance that there can be no justification,
whatsoever, for any acts of terrorism.
- We hope that the people of Pakistan will overcome this tragedy. We are resolved to continue our cooperation with international community to defeat terrorism.
