August 22, 2008
- The Government of Japan decided to extend emergency grant aid of one
million dollars through the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner
for Refugees (UNHCR), to support IDPs (internally displaced persons) caused
by the armed clashes in Georgia.
- This assistance is a measure to put into practice the announcement of August 15 on the Japanese emergency humanitarian aid up to one million dollars, with which Japan intends to provide quickly necessary aid materials such as tents and blankets in cooperation with the UNHCR.
