Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Moldova for Flood Disaster

- On August 7 (Thu), the Government of Japan decided to provide emergency
relief goods (power generators and water purifiers etc.), equivalent to
about 10 million yen, to the Government of the Republic of Moldova, which
has been affected by severe flooding.
- In Moldova, from July 29, a severe flood was caused by the rise of the
water level of the Dniestr and Prut Rivers. This flood affected nearly
10 thousand people and gave damage more than 1,200 houses totally or partially
destroyed or flooded.
While the Government of the Republic of Moldova has been making the utmost relief effort for the affected people, due to large-scale damage caused by the disaster, the Government of Moldova has requested emergency assistance from Japan.
- The Government of Japan has decided to extend emergency assistance from a humanitarian viewpoint and in light of the friendly relations between Japan and the Republic of Moldova.
