Kidnapping of Japanese Women in Yemen (Safely Released Victims Met with Japanese Embassy Officials)

- The Japanese embassy in Yemen confirmed the safe release of the recently
kidnapped two Japanese women at 00:36 on May 8 (local time) (Japan time:
06:36 on the same day) after a telephone conversation. At about 07:15
on May 8 (Japan time: 13:15 on the same day), embassy officials met with
the kidnapping victims at a Marib hotel to confirm their identity.
- According to embassy officials, the two Japanese women are both in good
condition and unharmed, with their possessions intact.
- The two women left Marib on May 8 at 8:30 (Japan time: 14:30 on the same day), accompanied by embassy officials and security guards for the capital city San’a.
