Statement by the Press Secretary/ Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Suicide Terrorist Attacks in Somalia

  1. The Government of Japan firmly condemns the suicide terrorist attacks which occurred in Hargeysa, the northern part of Somalia, and Bosasso, the northeast on October 29 (Wednesday).  The Government of Japan expresses its condolences to the victims and their bereaved families, as well as its deepest sympathy for the people who were injured.
  2. We strongly condemn terrorism in any forms and manifestations and reiterate our stance that there can be no justification whatsoever for any act of terrorism.
  3. Japan will continue cooperating with the international community to realize peace in Somalia, on the understanding that the peace and stability of Somalia is important for the stability in the region of the Horn of Africa and for the international counter-terrorism measures.
