Funeral of the Former King and Father of the Nation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Zahir Shah

Following the demise of King Mohammad Zahir Shah, the last King and the Father of the Nation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on July 23 (Mon), the Government of Japan intends to dispatch Mr. Kenshiro Matsunami, Member of the House of Representatives, to Afghanistan to attend the funeral as Ambassador on Special Mission of the Government of Japan.
The dispatch will be made in light of the importance of the bilateral relations between Japan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
