President Jacques Chirac of France Expresses Sympathy for Noto Peninsula Earthquake to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan

On Wednesday 28 March, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received a letter
of sympathy on the Noto Peninsula earthquake from President Jacques Chirac.
The translation is as follows:

(handwritten) Dear Friend,
It is with great sadness that I have heard of the tragic consequences of the violent earthquake that hit the western part of Japan.
In these painful circumstances I do wish to express, to yourself and to the families of the victims, my sympathy and the sense of solidarity of the people of France.
Please accept, Mr. Prime Minister, the assurance of my high consideration (added by hand) and my solidarity at this time of hardship.
