Dispatch of Japan's Ambassador on Special Mission to the Ceremony of the 50th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Ghana

- The Government of Japan has decided to dispatch Mr. Seiken Sugiura, Member of the House of Representatives (former Minister of Justice), to attend the ceremony of the 50th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Ghana, to be held on March 6 (Tue) in the capital city Accra.
- Japan and the Republic of Ghana traditionally enjoy friendly relations, and they are becoming closer through active VIP visits between the countries, and cooperation in the international arena. The year 2007 also marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Japan-Ghana diplomatic relations. Taking into account this amicable relationship, Japan has decided to dispatch Mr. Sugiura, who also heads the secretariat of the Japan-African Union (AU) Parliamentarians' Friendship League, as Ambassador on Special Mission.
