Exchange of Diplomatic Notes for the Entry into Force of the Agreement between Japan and the Kingdom of Thailand for an Economic Partnership

- An exchange of diplomatic notes for the entry into force of the Agreement
between Japan and the Kingdom of Thailand (JTEPA) took place on October
2 (Tue) in Tokyo between H.E.Mr. Masahiko Koumura, Minister for Foreign
Affairs, and H.E.Mr. Suvidhya Simaskul, Thai Ambassador to Japan. With
this exchange of diplomatic notes, the Agreement will take effect on November
1 (Thu), 2007.
- The JTEPA will advance the liberalization and facilitation of trade
of goods and services, improve investment opportunities and the business
environment, protect intellectual property, and promote cooperation in such
fields as small and medium-sized businesses between the two countries.
- It is expected that the entry into force of this Agreement will invigorate the economies of Japan and Thailand and make bilateral relations closer through the strengthening of economic partnership in various fields.
