Entry into Force of the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP)

- The Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) has entered into force on September 4 (Mon).
- Following the entry into force of the Agreement, the first meeting of the ReCAAP Governing Council of contracting parties will be held in Singapore from November 27 (Mon) to 30 (Thu), and cooperation based on the Agreement will start, including the establishment of the Information Sharing Center (ISC).
- Japan will provide financial support for the ISC, dispatch government personnel to staff it, and contribute in other ways to taking action against piracy through the ReCAAP.
