The First Japan-Russia Mixed Cultural Commission

  1. The First Japan-Russia Mixed Cultural Commission was held on April 12 (Wed) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The Commission was held based on a cultural agreement between the governments of Japan and Russia that came into effect in 2002.
  2. The Commission was attended by Mr. Masaki Okada, Director-General, Public and Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and officials from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology; the Agency for Cultural Affairs; and the Japan Foundation; and on the Russian side by Mr. Konstantin Vnukov, Director of the First Asian Department, and officials from the Ministry of Culture and Mass Communication; the Ministry of Education and Science; the Russia-Japan Society, and the Embassy of Russia in Japan.
  3. They discussed their respective policies of cultural exchange, evaluation of bilateral cultural exchange, and strategy for further promotion and cooperation of cultural exchange between the two countries.
  4. They agreed that the schedule of the next meeting would be adjusted through diplomatic channels.
