November 15, 2005
- We welcome the news that Japan's observer participation is agreed in principle at the 13th South Asia Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit Meeting, which was held in Dacca, Bangladesh on 12th (Saturday) and 13th (Sunday) November.
- Japan has supported SAARC's activities through the Japan-SAARC Special Fund, amongst other means, on the understanding that SAARC is contributing to regional stability and development in South Asia, which in turn is integral to Asia in its entirety.
- Japan will coordinate the modalities of its observer status, and remains committed to strengthening its relationship with SAARC, through the observer participation.
