Selection of Next Secretary-General of the OECD: Outcome of the First Stage of Consultations

- At the Meeting of Heads of Delegation (HOD) of the OECD held on October 21 (French time), Chairman Wilhelm B. Jaggi, Swiss Ambassador, Permanent Representative to the OECD, reported on the outcome of the first stage of consultations regarding the selection of its next Secretary-General.
- As a result, Ms. Sawako Takeuchi, the candidate from Japan, will move on to the next stage, together with two other candidates: Mr. Marek Belka from Poland, and Mr. Angel Gurria from Mexico.
- At the second stage of consultations to be held on November 3, each Member country is asked to give the names of two candidates in order of preference.
