Statement by the Press Secretary/ Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the serial explosions occurred on the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt

  1. The Government of Japan is gravely shocked by the serial explosions which occurred on the Sinai Peninsula at night of October 7 (Thurs)(local time) which led to a large number of civilian casualties. The Government of Japan expresses sympathy to the victims, condolences to the bereaved families and heartfelt sympathy to those who are injured.

  2. Terrorism cannot be justified for any reason, and the Government of Japan firmly condemns atrocious terrorism that victimizes many innocent people.

  3. The Government of Japan reaffirms its appreciation to the constructive endeavors made by the Government of Egypt to stabilize the region and expects that, despite this incident, the Government of Egypt will continue to make its active efforts towards peace and stability of the region.
