June 7, 2003
Japanese

  1. I am outraged by the bomb attack on a bus carrying peacekeepers of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) that took place at around 8 a.m. on June 7 local time (Japan time: about 12:30 p.m. on the same day) in eastern Kabul, Afghanistan, resulting in deaths and injuries. Japan firmly condemns terrorist attacks, and intends to cooperate with the international community to stamp out terrorism.

  2. As Japan highly appreciates the ISAF's role in maintaining security in and around Kabul, I extend my sincere sympathy for those killed in this attack and condolences to the bereaved families. I also pray for the quick recovery of the injured.

  3. The Government of Japan will extend assistance centering on peace, security, and humanitarian and reconstruction assistance for the Consolidation of Peace in Afghanistan.
