Statement by Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, on the Simultaneous Bombing Attacks in Morocco

  1. I am outraged by the simultaneous bombing attacks that took place on the night of May 16 local time (Japan time: May 17) in Casablanca and victimized a large number of civilians. I extend my sincere condolences to the victims who were killed in these attacks and their bereaved families and pray for the quick recovery of the injured.

  2. Japan firmly condemns terrorist attacks, which kill and injure innocent people, and intends to cooperate with the international community to stamp out terrorism.

  3. The Government of Japan intends to exert its utmost efforts to ensure the safety of Japanese nationals residing in or visiting the country.
