Statement by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi, on the Terrorist Bombing Attacks in Saudi Arabia
May 14, 2003
- I am outraged by the terrorist attacks that took place on the evening of May 12 local time (Japan time: May 13) in Riyadh and victimized a large number of civilians. Japan firmly condemns terrorist attacks, which kill and injure innocent people, and intends to cooperate with the international community to stamp out terrorism.
- I extend my sincere condolences to the victims who were killed in these attacks and their bereaved families and pray for the quick recovery of the injured.
- As three Japanese were also injured in the explosions, the Government of Japan intends to exert its utmost efforts to ensure the safety of Japanese nationals residing in or visiting the country.
