Assistance to Iraq for Humanitarian Operations in the Community

- The Government of Japan extended a grant assistance for grassroots human security projects of 9,948,856 yen to a mutual aid organization which is conducting humanitarian and reconstruction operations in Umm Qasr city, in the south of Iraq.
- This assistance provides vehicles, pharmaceutical kits for home use and potable water tanks, necessary for the humanitarian and reconstruction assistance operations in Umm Qasr conducted at the grass-roots level by the Iraqis themselves such as transportation of emergency medical supplies, distribution of potable water and sewage transportation after the military operation against Iraq and the collapse of the Hussein regime.
