Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the local assembly elections in Kashmir

- The Government of Japan values that, despite a number of terrorist disturbances, the local assembly elections in Kashmir were conducted as scheduled with efforts made by the election commission, and many voters cast their ballots.
- The Government of Japan hopes that all parties concerned will make their efforts to promote peace and welfare of the people of Kashmir.
- The Government of Japan hopes that a dialogue between India and Pakistan will be resumed soon following the completion of the local assembly elections in Kashmir and the general election in Pakistan
