Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the local assembly elections in Kashmir

  1. The Government of Japan values that, despite a number of terrorist disturbances, the local assembly elections in Kashmir were conducted as scheduled with efforts made by the election commission, and many voters cast their ballots.

  2. The Government of Japan hopes that all parties concerned will make their efforts to promote peace and welfare of the people of Kashmir.

  3. The Government of Japan hopes that a dialogue between India and Pakistan will be resumed soon following the completion of the local assembly elections in Kashmir and the general election in Pakistan
