Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Missile Launching Test by India

- The Government of Japan expresses its regret at the India's missile launching test on January 25. Japan again points out the necessity for constructive efforts on non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery, which was agreed in the Japan-India Joint Declaration.
- Japan is concerned that this missile launching test might worsen the current situation in South Asia. Japan takes this opportunity to express again its position that Japan hopes that both India and Pakistan will swiftly resume dialogue, and that the tension between the two countries will be promptly reduced.
