Provision of Japanese assistance to funds established in relation to the multiple terrorist attacks in the United States

- On the night of the 19th, Prime Minister of Japan Junichiro Koizumi conveyed to Ambassador of the United States of America to Japan Howard Baker that the Government of Japan will provide ten million dollars to appropriate funds established in the U.S. to assist the search and rescue efforts under way, with the most sincere expression of sympathies for fire fighters, policemen, emergency medical services staff and others who died in the line of duty while trying to save lives in the aftermath of the multiple terrorist attacks.
- In response, Ambassador Baker stated that he will promptly report this offer of assistance to President Bush as well as Secretary of State Colin Powell along with the seven other measures that the Japanese government will take in relation to the terrorist attacks. He also expressed appreciation for this assistance.
Amount to be provided: US$10,000,000 (ten million dollars) Funds that will receive the assistance: New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund Twin Towers Fund
