Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Assassination of Mr. Ze'evy, Minister of Tourism of Israel

  1. The Government of Japan is deeply shocked with the assassination of Mr. Rechaveam Ze'evy, Minister of Tourism of Israel. Japan expresses its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and to the people of Israel.

  2. Terrorism cannot be justified for any reason. We feel indignation at such an act of terrorism and resolutely condemn it.

  3. Japan strongly wishes that the mutual commitments reached at the meeting between Chairman Arafat and Foreign Minister Peres on September 26 would be implemented at earliest possible time, which leads to ending the violence and resuming negotiations.
