Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Missile Launching Experiment by India
January 17, 2001
The Government of Japan is strongly concerned about India's test launching of a missile on January 17 in that it might hamper the moves toward the easing of tensions in South Asia and intensify the nuclear arms and missile development race in the region. The Government of Japan strongly calls on India to refrain from further missile testing and hopes that Pakistan would exercise self-restraint.(END)
