Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Terrorist Bombings in Tehran

- Japan considers it extremely regrettable that the terrorist bombings which occurred on February 5, near the Presidential Office in Tehran, Iran, caused civilian casualties. The Government of Japan expresses its deepest condolences on the victim of the incident to the bereaved families and the people of Iran, and extends heartfelt sympathy to those who were injured.
- Japan is aware that the MKO (Mujahedeen Khalq Organization) has claimed responsibility for the attack. Terrorism involving the general public is an unforgivable act and cannot be justified for any reason. Japan hereby confirms its basic stance that firmly condemns any form of terrorism.
