Emergency Assistance to Viet Nam for Flood Disaster

  1. On November 8 (Mon), the Government of Japan decided to extend grass-roots grant assistance of up to 9.6 million yen to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Delegation of Viet Nam to assist flood-afflicted people in the country.

  2. Flooding triggered by torrential rain hit seven provinces and one city in central Viet Nam, causing great human and material damage; as of November 4 there were 233 people dead and 1,060,000 houses flooded. The Government of Japan has decided to extend this emergency assistance from a humanitarian standpoint, in view of the seriousness of this disaster.
