Exchange of Opinions with one of the Afghan Factions

1. On January 22 (Fri.), the Government of Japan will exchange views with two members of the Taliban, one of the political factions in Afghanistan, who are now visiting Japan.
   
   
2. At this exchange of views, Japan will urge a cease-fire and a resumption of the dialogue toward national reconciliation. Japan will also listen to the Taliban's views on the current situation in Afghanistan and on the future prospects for a solution to the Afghan issue.
   
   
3. One of these Taliban members is visiting Japan from January 17 (Sun.) to 26 (Tue.), and the other from January 17 (Sun.) to February 1 (Mon.).
